Ian Martin wins the Sailboat Deliveries Champion of Champions at the RS Games.
The RS Games were a rip roaring success with 525 boats and 875 competitors taking part in 9 World, European and National Championships for the adult RS classes over the 12 days at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. There was an extra major prize to be competed for during the RS Games, the Sailboat Deliveries Champion of Champions award for those who competed in two or more classes Championships. Each competitor, helm or crew, had their finishing position from each championship they completed and any individual days results from other championships they took part in turned into a percentage of the overall entry they beat in each class and an average taken.
Ian Martin finished 2nd in the RS800 Nationals and 5th in the RS200 Nationals to give a percentage score of 97, 4% ahead of his nearest challenger Lee Sydenham who finished 12th in the RS200 Nationals and 6th in the RS400 Nationals. Ian wins a free delivery of his boat to Garda next year, for the major all classes RS Eurocup to be held in the last two weeks of July 2012, courtesy of Sailboat Deliveries.
“ I am really delighted to have won such a great prize; I have always wanted to do the RS Eurocup in Garda” commented Ian. “I will be planning my whole season around the event, I am very grateful to Sailboat Deliveries for such a superb prize” he added.
