Use of the Gybing Strop – Outcome of RS200 Class Vote

Following a proposal by Hamish Walker at the RS200 AGM, August 2012, to remove the class rule banning the helm touching the gybing strop when going downwind except when gybing, Ian Pickard, the author of the original rule, wrote a brief pro/con excerpt explaining the rule.   This document was sent to all RS200 Class Association members, with a voting form.

53 people voted.  Many thanks everyone for taking the time.   50 members (94% of voters) voted that the rule should be retained, and that use of the gybing strop should be restricted to gybing downwind, and that the rule should be policed appropriately.

Your committee will give some thoughts to how the rule is to be policed throughout the 2013 season.
