Meningitis Chase Race

The Irish RS Association are pleased to support the Meningitis Chase Race at Larne in September, following a presentation at the recent AGM at RNIYC by organiser Tom Jobling - please see the following Press Release Today.....

The Meningitis Chase Race on 7th September has just got serious!

Courtesy of P&O Ferries the winners of the main race, the Chase Race, will be presented with a prize return crossing between Larne Co. Antrim and Cairnryan or Troon in Scotland. And better still this superb prize will apply to a car and two passengers!

Arthur Murphy of P&O Ferries said; “P&O Ferries is delighted to support the forthcoming Meningitis Chase Race. As operators of the shortest, fastest, most frequent ferry services between N. Ireland and Scotland, we know our customers enjoy being first over the line when sailing across the North Channel”

The Meningitis Chase Race will be a pursuit ‘type’ event consisting of two races: A minor race of 50 minutes for dinghies with a PY number between 1600 and 1180 starting at 11.00 hours opens the day’s programme. The main race, which gets underway at one o’clock, caters for mono hulled dinghies, day-boats and sports-boats which have a PY number between 1180 and 900. This race will run for 100 minutes.

The event is dedicated to Stan Jobling (3) who lost his battle to Meningitis a few years ago. The prime objective of the day is to raise at least £1,000 for the Meningitis Trust.

Very much with children and young people in mind the Jobling family who are the main drivers of this day in September, are focused on providing competitors and visitors to Larne, a special fun-filled-day both out on the waters of their beautiful Lough, and ashore at EABC’s base on Curran Point which rest under the shadow of Olderfleet castle.

The Chase Race Notice-of-Race and Entry Forms are downloadable from www.eabc.org.uk. Follow the event build-up on Facebook. www.facebook.com/thechaseracelarnelough Alternatively, call Tom Jobling for a chat on +44(0)2828276960.
