SAIL VOTE RESULTS OUT NOW!

Dear All.

Appreciate the announcement is slightly before the deadline of midnight tonight, but in light of the following results I think we have a very conclusive result and wanted to share the news with you all at the earliest convenience. I also wanted to make you aware that the Hull and Sails will be on display at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show this weekend. I will be present so feel free to come and find me and I’ll only be too happy to answer any questions you may have on the hull, sails and the upcoming RS200 Worlds in Australia.

VOTE RESULTS:

Firstly, a huge thank you to all those of you that have taken the time to vote. The number of responses received has been a record in the history of the RS Association with over 100 members voting taking part.  I appreciate this has been an emotive decision for many  of the fleet but I am assured by the quantity of results and the trend in voting that the decision is absolutely conclusive from the community. 

Based on the results the UK Class Association has given the approval for the manufacturer of sails from Racing Sailboats. If any of you are going to the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show this weekend, then you will be able to see the new hull and sails on display.

The first batch of sails are expected to be in stock in early May.  From the vote response there is considerable intent of purchasing sails early in the season, so we are likely to see lots of new sails on the circuit start line. I have a set of demo sails that I will bring to the circuit events for the fleet to use and get familiar.

The results are as follows:

Radial standard design mail sail new development option: 97 voted for so Class Assoc approved (5 voted for square top)

Radial jib design new development option: 93 voted for so Class Assoc approved (8 voted for keeping original)

Radial spinnaker design new development option: 93 voted for so Class Assoc appoved (8 voted for keeping original)
