Forward WIP to support RS National Championships

The RS Class Association are delighted to announce that Forward WIP (Water Impact Protection) will be supporting the National Championships of all its adult fleets.

The Volvo Noble Marine National Championships will take place in August and September, starting with the RS400s at the fabulous Mounts Bay, followed by the RS200s at Tenby, which looks set to be a bumper entry, the RS300s venturing north to Prestwick, the RS100 and RS Vareos at Weston where the friendly atmosphere and local camping are sure to go down well, and last but not least the RS700s and RS800s at the ever-popular Stokes Bay.  What a Summer!

All competitors will be given a smart Forward WIP event-branded sailing visor in their welcome pack.

From dinghy sailing to the America’s cup, Forward WIP (Water Impact Protection) are a Swiss company who supply helmets, impact vests and other clothing with integrated protection designed in.  These are used by such teams as Oracle, ETNZ, Softbank Team Japan, Groupama and Artemis, and also by the BAR Youth Squad.  In addition, several of the Extreme sailing teams, such as Alinghi, many foiling classes and high performance catamaran crews are also users of the WIP gear.

Now, Forward WIP are producing a range of sailing clothing more suited to dinghy sailors too.  Their design style is originally derived from working in the Swiss ski industry and this is reflected in the stylish and edgy look seen in many of the items. The Semidry, wetsuits and long-johns have protective panels built in to protect knees and shin areas, some have thigh protection too.  The Hiking pants have compression straps built in and can fit various pads.  The helmets are the only purpose designed sailing impact helmets made (Forward helped design the CE safety spec,) as opposed to modified kayaking helmet designs.  The impact vests are slim fitting and feature many pockets for equipment, and the trapeze harnesses have adjustable back supports and comfortable straps.  Check out the range at http://forward-wip.co.uk/en/

Forward WI MD, Remi Fineil said “Forward WIP are delighted to be supporting the RS classes, we look forward to seeing many of you on the water! “
