2020 RS200 Nationals will not go ahead at Filey
Your RS200 Class Association have been in regular discussions with Filey SC and the Race Management team throughout the last few months and have come up with plans for staging the event in a modified form. However, the reality is, that the particular set up of Filey SC and of the local area, make it impractical to hold the championships with social distancing measures in place. Filey relies heavily on volunteers to stage large events and the safety of these volunteers is also a huge concern. For these reasons, the club, with the support of the Class Association have made the difficult decision to cancel.
We extend our thanks to the management team at Filey SC who have shown such great enthusiasm, professionalism and hospitality in the planning of this event; no doubt the RS200s will visit Filey some time in the near future.
We are actively exploring alternatives to bring you a 2020 National Championships and will keep you updated on our progress. Please check fast news, the website and social media for ongoing updates. We will be in touch with sailors who have already paid for the event to establish their preferences for refund.
We would finally like to issue a plea to sailors who have not rejoined the Class Association to do so if they possibly can. We receive over 50% of our membership revenue at the Nationals and with the event in the balance we are dependent upon our regular sailors to renew their membership and keep the Association going. We believe that we have the best Class Associations out there and we remain utterly committed to bringing you the best possible events. We ask for your faith and support at this tricky time, as an investment in the future of our class and our sport.
