Last weekend the RS500's were introduced in the Sneekweek. The Sneekweek is the biggest inland sailing event in Europe with more then 1000 boats competing on the water.
This year it was the first year that the RS500 class competed. We directly got startgroup number 1 which meant that we were the first one to start racing and the first one to finish in front of the Island full of supporters and beer drinking public!
The race is a big puzzle. Looking for the marks is a real pressure on the shoulders of the crews who probably drunk as much as their helms in the great parties the Sneekweek is hosting. On Friday Night the beautifull city of Sneek hosted FireWorks. The Saturdaynight was filled with a "Crazy piano's band" with great music. It really was a "Dutch-a-like" party!
We finally made it to the "Sneekweek-journal". The biggest newspaper of the North of the Netherlands (during the event). This was great promotion. So after this weekend we are very happy to welcome all the 993 other competitors to compete in our class next year!
From 2013 Sneek is hosting "International"-arrangements for people from abroad with accomodation and a dutch host to lead you through the week! Will you join us?
