Dear All,
Every year around this time I send you my wishes for you. So also for this year:
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I really expect 2015 to become a very happy new year. Again we have worked hard to get you a great set of international events to meet each other and have good racing!
The International Calendar:

RS500 - Development in the fleet:
As our fleet is steadily growing throughout of Europe the international class events become more and more attractive for everyone to join!
Never before I was able to already tell you before Christmas that we have almost 40 entries for the Worlds. And that is a good sign. The Dutch team is working hard, and are making great effort to let this event be the most relaxed, enjoyable and competitive championship ever in the RS500 class (and that is hard to beat!).
If you haven’t entered yet, do it before the end of this year via http://www.rs500.org! There is a EUR100,- discount until 31st of December.
But not only are the Worlds going to be great.
All of the events have something special. And that is mostly because of you. It is because every time we are able to create memorable moments on the water and on the shore together. I am very happy that from wherever we come, we all share that same feeling of what the RS500 means to us.
I am for example very happy to have the French sailors joining as an organized group to our class. Led by Alexandre Emmanuel this group is going to be the bridge between the Southern European countries. That will make our class mature in the Southern part of Europe.
Why do I spend a lot of my time being a chairman of the RS-500’s?
I love to be a part of the great bunch of people who love the sailing and the socials around it. People who understand what the feeling of joy is sailing a boat like this. People who love to share that feeling with everyone that is uncomplicated loving to sail these boats. And it must be for everyone. Not only for the Olympic circuit, not with the goal to make sponsor contracts or something. Just the goal to really enjoy the sailing with as much as possible.
I believe sailing is fun, should be joined by more and more people and because I believe that regular people like me, the ultimate weekend warriors, should have a platform to enjoy this and make friends for life!
The members of our class don’t talk about the boat; they talk about the people, their friends, the group. We don’t buy the RS500 boats and we are not only coming to the events because we want to win the race. We are there for ourselves, being a part of the great group, part of the family, of folks, who just love to sail and have fun in their free time.
And by aiming for that, it happens to be a high level of sailing competition, close racing on the water, great parties on shore!
Thank you very much, Have a good time and spread our story!
