It's coming home?
As we prepare for the upcoming RS500 Europeans in Travemünde, we are delighted to formally announce that the Championships will return to UK waters in 2027.
The Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble will host the event with racing from August 9th to 13th. The week promises exceptional racing under world-class management in the central Solent, complemented by a vibrant social atmosphere at a premier clubhouse in the heart of British yacht racing.
Our organising committee has spend last winter scouring the South East of England for a club that meets our demand for great race management and a party atmosphere ashore. We've worked hard to ensure the ethos of sailing hard and winning the socials from the last 16 years of RS500 Worlds can be replicated, now with a nice dinner one evening.
More details will be shared at Travemünde and in the following weeks and months, but for now we wanted to share the headlines and the
event page.
But wait there is more...
We will also be returning to Mounts Bay in Cornwall, following a memorable nationals last year, to host our National Championships and EuroCup the weekend after. This was made possible by another fleet's cancellation, giving us the opportunity to show the international visitors from the Europeans one of the UK's hidden gems of dinghy sailing.
With racing taking place from the Thursday the 19th with a coaching day on Wednesday, there is the opportunity to take a scenic family road trip camping down the Jurassic Coast or go back to work for a few days!
To summarise no ferries (unless you're from Gurnard) one week of world class racing followed by the largest UK nationals in recent memory in a bucket list destination. August 2027: the month of the 500!
